Nail Diary #334

April 6, 2015

Hello Monday.  Where did the weekend go?  I got so busy that I did not a chance to share my Easter manicure with you.  I am very “egg”cited to share them with you now; better late than never.

My sister recently got baby chicks to raise for fresh eggs, they are stinking cute.  So I thought how perfect to put some cute little chicks on my nails for Easter.  I got so many “Oh how cute” comments on this mani; I love the extra mani attention 🙂

I started with all white nails, using my Sally Hansen insta-dri white OMGhost.  I decided to put chicks on all fingers but my thumbs.  Once I decided what chicks I wanted where, I added my chevron nail vinyls stickers to give the look of a cracked egg shell.  My chickie yellow is a Bundle Monster creative art polish called no 15.  I just added this sunflower yellow wherever I wanted a little chick.  Once dry I used a black polish and a dotting tool for the eyes and the beak is a Bundle Monster Bundle Monster creative art polish called no 12.

On my thumb I did a hand-painted easter bun bun.  My first one ever; tricky but not so hard.  First I did put on a Sinful Colors BloomBlast glitter over my white called Flower Power.  The magenta pink and white glitters are in a light pink jelly polish, it reminded me of speckled Easter egg candies. Once that dried I added my bunny head and ears using a dotting tool mostly and white polish.  I added a cute face and even a heart nose using my black polish and a dotting tool.  And of course some pink in the ears, using China Glaze Hang-ten toes.

I really love how these turned out.  The nail vinyl stickers made this manicure very easy, it even looks like a pro did them I must say the bunny nose is my favorite part ❤

Hope you guys have a great week!! 🙂

Happy polishing!

TGIAF!  Happy April, bring on the April showers, I can’t wait for May flowers.  I have some hoppy nails to share with you tonight, think Easter eggs.  It took ten bottles of Zoya nail polish to achieve this look, two colors per nail.  I did a base color and then using my chevron nail vinyls I decorated my nails with Pixie Dust glitter polish.  I really love how this turned out.  I got a lot of “oh cute I love your nails” comments, blush.  Sadly this will have to come off before Easter but I did get to wear it all week with no chips; have I mentioned I love Zoya nail polish.

Here are the colors I used to achieve my skittle Easter egg mani:

Thumb: Base: a light blue cream called Lillian, chevron stripes Zoya Pixie Dust NYX a denim shade of blue.  Looks fab over the sky blue base.

Index: Base: a light powder pink cream called Dot, chevron stripes Zoya Pixie Dust Miranda a pretty pink glitter, really pops over Dot.

Middle: Base: a green mint metallic called Dillon, chevron stripes Zoya Pixie Dust Vespa a mint green matte glitter, sorta gets lost over Dillon but pretty none the less.

Ring: Base: a purple orchid metallic called Hudson, chevron stripes Zoya Pixie Dust Stevie a violet matte glitter.

Pinky (my favorite combo): Base: a spring blue metallic with teal shimmer called Rayne (my new favorite blue)chevron stripes Zoya Pixie Dust Liberty a blue matte glitter.

I have to say this might be one of my all time favorite Easter manicures that I have ever done.  I will be sad to take it off.  Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #293

September 6, 2014

YAY happy weekend.  I hope you guys are having a great one so far.  I know I have said this before but I just LOVE weekends.  This morning we got to take the four wheeler out to the ATV park, that was a blast.

When I did this last manicure I really wanted to use my nail vinyls to create a funky french tip look.  Using my single chevron vinyls I created a black tip on each nail with my Wet n Wild fast dry Ebony Hates Cris polish.  This was the perfect black for this job because it dried fast.  Since my tips were already deviating from the normal frenchie I decided to take it a step farther and add a shimmery pink polish over the tip.  The pink I choose is Zoya Harper from the summer 2014 bubbly collection.  Harper is a cotton candy pink with a gold shimmer.  I thought Harper would be perfect for a peek a boo effect because it is a jelly polish with a hint of holo glitter.  Well, peek a boo not so much Harper was not as sheer as I expected, I quickly found out this polish becomes opaque with just a few coats.  All in all it turned out ok but in my head this looked way cooler.

After just one day I was tired of this look.

So rather than re-doing my nails after one day I opted to just added a stamp.

Using Pueen Encore plate SE01B I added some cute flowers using that same black polish.  This is not the normal black polish I would use to stamp, you can see it is not as dark as my Konad black.  But for this mani that really works…if the flowers were too dark it would probably be too much for this look.

Which look do you like better?  I am loving the stamping; it really too this look to a whole other level.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, happy polishing!!

Nail Diary #273

May 30, 2014

TGIF finally friday; why is it the shorter weeks take the longest?  I love Fridays because I love the weekends with my cute little family.  This weekend we are taking a mini road trip to the Omaha Zoo.  My daughter is extremely excited.  It will be nice to get away even it is only for one day.

So my next manicure inspiration was my upcoming mini road trip.  You would think I would have thought to do animal print nails; but my mind went straight to glitter.  If I am going to be out in the sun all day I need BLING and not just a little I need a lot of BLING!!

First I painted my nails with my new Maybelline Bleached Neon blue called Day Glow Teal.  The Bleached Neon line is a limited edition for Summer 2014.  I have only picked up two colors so far from this collection.  But I have to say this Bleached Neon polish is very pretty, it is a subtle neon look.  But I do have it on my toes as well and I really like this shade of teal.

Once Day Glow Teal dried I added my BLING, Zoya Vega and ahhhhhh I die.  If you don’t have Vega you really should consider buying it, especially if you love Pixie Dust.  Vega is a magical Pixie Dust that came out earlier this year.  It is a light blue with holo glitter particles.  This Pixie Dust is very textured, but so gorgeous.  In the sun it shines.

On my ring finger I used my nail vinyls for a fun chevron look.  I like how the Day Glow Teal peaks out from under Vega.  I did end up adding a clear coat over Vega to add more vivid sparkle.

Have you jumped on the textured polish wagon yet?  I have to say textured polish is really growing on me, especially when it sparkles this much.

Have a great weekend!

Nail Diary #173

Monday May 27, 2013
So yesterday I had some extra time… I decided to watch Netflix instant and attempt to do a water marble mani. Well the movie was good but the water marble not so much.
I got 3 nails into it and gave up. I was so annoyed by the whole thing. I’m not sure what the problem was…water temp or maybe humidity in the air but the polish just wouldn’t pool out.
I had Sally Hansen insta-dri Petal Pusher on as a base. I choose this polish as a base because it is a nice nude-pink quick dry polish; a great canvas for my marble. After I gave up on my marble I was so over it that I just repainted the three botched nails and left them plain until today.
Today I decided to attempt a chevron tip … I choose a holo polish. China Glaze Galactic Gray. I did use Orly chevron guides, I normally would try freehand but I just didn’t want to chance messing up yet again.
I really like the holo with the petal pusher the chevron tip really pops with the neutral base. My tips aren’t perfect but not too bad for first attempt.

Ps ignore my cuticles…they are a hot mess. I have been trying all sorts of cuticle products but they still are horrid. If you have any suggestions I am all ears.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤
