Nail Diary #298

Hi all!  I hope you are having a fantastic fall weekend.  It has been beautiful here in Iowa this weekend; we definitely can’t complain.  Ok well maybe one tiny complaint… the freaking blood sucking mosquitos I wish they would all die (end of rant ;))

I have a simple Sunday mani to share with you tonight.  Had some major fun playing with Zoya Pixie Dusts this time.  If you follow me you know I am love with the simplicity of Zoya Pixie Dust polish.  The matte textured glitter polish goes on quick and easy and no top coat is needed.  You can’t have it much easier than that 🙂

I knew I wanted a fall color this time so I picked a blood red Zoya called Chyna.  This is not the first time I have played with Chyna nor will it be the last.  I had only Chyna on for a few hours and loved it; but I had some time to kill so I wanted to spice things up.

Using a cheap eye makeup sponge and Zoya Dahlia I sponged on some dark tips.  I absolutley love how these turned out and really it was very simple, literally only took me a few minutes.

Note to self:  I also think it would be fun to do this in reverse…blood tips for October.

I am telling you if you don’t have Pixie Dust polish you really need some 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Hello to another Mani Monday.  Whew boy was it hard to get going this morning, nothing a little coffee couldn’t cure though.

Have you ever seen a water marble manicure?  Water marble nails look so cool!  Have you ever tried to do a water marble manicure?  I have, it is hard to do and messy.  I have yet to master that technique!!

I am an avid instagram stalker of the nail polish divas out there ( follow me if you want @am1e).  Last week @ermahgerdperlish had this amazing water marble mani.  I was like omg I just died and went to nail polish heaven.  But then I realized she didn’t actually do the water marble technique.  That’s when I knew then I just had to try this marble decal technique.

I had no idea if this would work for me but I just went for it and I could not be more happy with the technique or the results.  WIN!

Here is what I did:

Wet N Wild Marble decal manicure

How to DIY marble decal manicure:

1) Start with a plastic bag or parchment/wax paper.  I used parchment paper for mine.  Colors I used to marble are Wet n Wild:  Vampy red metallic Under your spell, True red metallic Rudy-dolph, and gold metallic Deadly Dose.  This combo is just perfect for a fall manicure.  So first I put down a fair amount of the gold polish in the size I wanted for my decal.  Then I did drops of all the colors and swirled them together as evenly as I could with a toothpick…repeat ten times.  Then wait, and wait and wait.

2) Once the polish has dried it should lift right up from the parchment paper, see above.  If it doesn’t lift off smoothly it is not dry, wait some more.

3) All my nails had on my standard nail envy base coat.  Right before I applied my decals I put on a clear coat to act as my glue.  I gently put on the marble decal one nail at a time.  Carefully push decal on evenly; I made sure to get on all the sides and I even tried wrapping my tips a bit.  Then carefully cut off access with tiny scissors or use a cuticle stick.  I used my detail brush dipped in polish remover to take off any access polish around the nail and on the cuticle.  Topped off with my seche vite fast dry top coat.

4) Is the final look.  I did add a matte top coat for this picture because the marble effect really stood out as a matte.  I found this way to be a lot easier than a water marble.  Don’t get me wrong this was still time consuming but totally doable; patience is definitely needed.

I cannot wait to try this technique with all kinds of color combos.  I am so glad I saw this technique on IG last week.

TGIAF!!  Here I am looking forward to another lovely weekend with my cute little family.  We don’t have too much planned which is nice for once.

Tonight I have some wild nails to share with you.  In my head these turned out so different; that happens to me a lot.  Don’t get me wrong I am still pleased with the results it just turned out different then planned.

I was thinking I would layer a textured sheer polish over an animal print stamp to get a realistic fur look.  This did not happen, the textured polish that I thought would be sheer was not sheer enough IMO.  So I improvised 🙂

Here is what I did:

Starting with Bundle Monster plate 223 I stamped on the far left zebra stripe image using my Konad black polish onto my semi-naked nails.  Semi-naked meaning just wearing my nail envy base coat.  Then over my stripes I added China Glaze Sand dolla make you holla this is a textured milky white polish with little bits of multi glitters.  Please note this polish is sheer, you would need several coats or layer it over a darker base for full coverage.  I did like how Sand dolla make you holla looked over my stripes BUT it just wasn’t bold enough for me at the time.  So I slapped on some China Glaze Fairy Dust thinking this would do the trick but nope I had to take it a few steps farther.  Once my Fairy Dust dried I added another zebra stamp and then another coat of Fairy Dust and called it done.  Oh wow!  These nails are just WILD and sparkly.  RAWR I just love me some Fairy Dust.:)

Hope you have a spectacular weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

YAY happy weekend!!  We have had a busy weekend so far.  My 10 year daughter had an eye appointment today and she ended up needing glasses, pleased to say they make her look so smart 🙂 and she loves them!

Late last week Zoya had a Pixie Dust BOGO promo and naturally being the polish addict I am I had to partake.  How exciting to add eight precious pixie dusts to my collection for the price of four; score!!

So the past few days in Iowa have been dark, cold and rainy.  A lot of the times the color I pick for my nails reflects my mood, a feeling, a holiday or even the time of year.  So due to the dreary weather I gravitated to a grey.  I picked an amazing Sinful Colors matte grey polish called My Turn.  My Turn went on splendid.  Typically with a matte polish you have annoying streaks and/or uneven coverage.  Not this time, it went on like a dream and dried super quick.  To add just a little pizzaz I decided to have a ring accent nail using one of my NEW Zoya magical pixie dusts called Ginni.  Ginni really is oh so magical, it is a pastel baby soft pink jammed packed full of holo magical glitter bits.  Be warned this polish is very textured, and it dries matte no top coat needed.  Once I added my accent nail I felt happy but still a little unsatisfied so I decided huh why not add Ginni to the tips of my grey nails using my makeup sponge, thinking the matte grey with the matte glitter would look pretty cool.  I could not be more happy with the results, this combo is to die.   I am in love, all friday at work I could not stop staring at my nails.  Even though the sun was not out for a couple days my magical pixie dust glittered like no other, ahhhhh sigh.  It is the little things that makes this girl happy.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I have been dying to play with my 08.14 SquareHue Beverly Hills nail polish collection.

First I started with Rodeo Drive as a base color on all my nails.  Rodeo Drive is a platinum silver micro glitter.  This polish goes on perfectly, no annoying streaks and two coats gives you perfect coverage.  But because I can’t just have one color on my nails I decided to sponge on the second color in this collect called Cannon Drive.  Cannon Drive is frosty violet micro shimmer polish.  These colors look amazing paired together.  This had to have been the easiest sponge manicure I have ever done; I only had to sponge on two coats for full coverage.  If they were all this easy I would do this technique all the time.

Because I was feeling extra amibitious tonight I decided to add a stamp over my sponge gradient using the third color in the collection Wilshire Boulevard.  Wilshire Boulevard a sapphire blue is also a frosty micro shimmer polish. I think this blue is just a perfect color to use to add a stamp over this gradient duo.  The plate I picked is a Pueen buffet plate number 50.  This is a fashion plate, it has all kinds of high fashion/beauty words.  I picked this plate because I am going to a magazine seminar in the next couple days…right when I saw this plate magazine jumped right out at me; how extremely perfect for the upcoming event.  Words are very challenging to stamp so this plate is not for beginners.  I am pretty pleased with how these turned out, my words aren’t perfect but not terrible either.  We will see if any fellow attendees notice these tiny little words on my nails.

YAY happy weekend.  I hope you guys are having a great one so far.  I know I have said this before but I just LOVE weekends.  This morning we got to take the four wheeler out to the ATV park, that was a blast.

When I did this last manicure I really wanted to use my nail vinyls to create a funky french tip look.  Using my single chevron vinyls I created a black tip on each nail with my Wet n Wild fast dry Ebony Hates Cris polish.  This was the perfect black for this job because it dried fast.  Since my tips were already deviating from the normal frenchie I decided to take it a step farther and add a shimmery pink polish over the tip.  The pink I choose is Zoya Harper from the summer 2014 bubbly collection.  Harper is a cotton candy pink with a gold shimmer.  I thought Harper would be perfect for a peek a boo effect because it is a jelly polish with a hint of holo glitter.  Well, peek a boo not so much Harper was not as sheer as I expected, I quickly found out this polish becomes opaque with just a few coats.  All in all it turned out ok but in my head this looked way cooler.

After just one day I was tired of this look.

So rather than re-doing my nails after one day I opted to just added a stamp.

Using Pueen Encore plate SE01B I added some cute flowers using that same black polish.  This is not the normal black polish I would use to stamp, you can see it is not as dark as my Konad black.  But for this mani that really works…if the flowers were too dark it would probably be too much for this look.

Which look do you like better?  I am loving the stamping; it really too this look to a whole other level.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, happy polishing!!

Oh wow it feels like Monday.  I did have a great long weekend.  My weekend consisted of clothes shopping, a wedding, four wheeling and picking up our new baby bunny named Coconut.

First I must tell you about my nails.  I did these on Saturday to match my top that I was wearing to my husband’s co-workers wedding.  I even added some hearts and a love stamp especially for the occasion; no one noticed but I did and that is what makes me happy, lol.

On my thumb and pinky fingers I did matte black.  I used Nina Ultra pro polish called Black Vinyl , this did dry semi matte but I added a matte top coat for extra protection.  On my index and middle fingers I used Zoya Petra,  this purple -grey creme polish matched my tank top perfectly.  Over those two nails I used my Konad black stamping polish to add some LOVE letters and uber cute hearts, I used images from my Pueen Encore plate SE02A.  Once that dried I put a matte top coat over the Petra nails as well.  On my ring finger I added some bling to match the bling along the top edge of my tank top.  I used my Zoya MAGICAL Pixie Dust Cosmo for some fantastic in your face bling, love it!!  If you love glitter and don’t mind a textured nail Cosmo is a must have polish for your collection.

Over all I was really happy with my end result.  My nails matched my outfit, my favorite part was the bling.  The lights were low in the venue which made all my bling twinkle, ahhhhh.
