Nail Diary #410

November 15, 2016

Hi everyone!  Once again I find myself behind on sharing my mani creations.

A couple weeks ago we had tragedy strike in my home town in Iowa.  2 people officers were tragically gunned down in their patrol cars in the dead of the night.  The next day I felt compelled to back the blue on my nails.  Here is what I came up with:

Colors used are China Glaze Frostbite and Square Hue via montenapoleone (my all time fav black matte polish).   Love how this turned out; just sad what compelled me to create it.
Happy polishing!

Happy Halloween!  WOW!  This month has flown by…I haven’t even had time to share all my ghoul Halloween nails.  Unfortunately, I have a sick kiddo home from school today so I have a moment to summarize what I have failed to share with you all this month.  I had some pretty fun manis this month;  I love Halloween nail art.  Wish I had more time to share with you all.  If you follow my insta you would have seen them all in real time.  So this time rather than going into detail I will just share the photo and if you want to know specific colors and stamping plates just ask in the comments and I will share.  I feel like this makes more sense rather than sharing them all in a separate blog posts – blowing up your inbox.

Here are my Pixie Dust Jack-O-Lanterns

Here are my creepy ZOMBIE nails…they’re coming to get you Barbara LOL!!

Here are my blood splatter murder nails

Last but not least here are my kitty claws nails–which went perfect with my simple kitty costume.  I love this matte cat claw look.

Which look is your favorite?

Hope you have a great holiday—sadly I’ll miss October as it is my favorite month but bring on November!!

Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #334

April 6, 2015

Hello Monday.  Where did the weekend go?  I got so busy that I did not a chance to share my Easter manicure with you.  I am very “egg”cited to share them with you now; better late than never.

My sister recently got baby chicks to raise for fresh eggs, they are stinking cute.  So I thought how perfect to put some cute little chicks on my nails for Easter.  I got so many “Oh how cute” comments on this mani; I love the extra mani attention 🙂

I started with all white nails, using my Sally Hansen insta-dri white OMGhost.  I decided to put chicks on all fingers but my thumbs.  Once I decided what chicks I wanted where, I added my chevron nail vinyls stickers to give the look of a cracked egg shell.  My chickie yellow is a Bundle Monster creative art polish called no 15.  I just added this sunflower yellow wherever I wanted a little chick.  Once dry I used a black polish and a dotting tool for the eyes and the beak is a Bundle Monster Bundle Monster creative art polish called no 12.

On my thumb I did a hand-painted easter bun bun.  My first one ever; tricky but not so hard.  First I did put on a Sinful Colors BloomBlast glitter over my white called Flower Power.  The magenta pink and white glitters are in a light pink jelly polish, it reminded me of speckled Easter egg candies. Once that dried I added my bunny head and ears using a dotting tool mostly and white polish.  I added a cute face and even a heart nose using my black polish and a dotting tool.  And of course some pink in the ears, using China Glaze Hang-ten toes.

I really love how these turned out.  The nail vinyl stickers made this manicure very easy, it even looks like a pro did them I must say the bunny nose is my favorite part ❤

Hope you guys have a great week!! 🙂

Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #229

It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas…everywhere you go.
It’s snowing on my wordpress page and I have candy cane nails. How much more Christmas can you get 😉
These candy cane nails were a bit of a challenge at first. I got a new stamper from amazon…you know the XL squishy stamp. Boy do you really have to practice practice practice to get no where near perfect. But I can see the potential with this stamper so I will not give up.
To achieve this look I first started with white underwear; Salon Perfect’s Sugar Cube.
Once that dried I added my new SquareHue pearl white called broadway. This is a sheer pearl white, just perfect for that candy look.
After my whites completely dried I found my candy cane stripes. BM-423 from the bundle monster holiday plate collection.
I have never stamped on my candy cane stripes I have always used the tape method, so this was all new to me. Less prep time that is for sure.
For my stamps I used my other new SquareHue polish fifth avenue a lovely high gloss creme RED. I love this red, can’t wait to play with this more, in fact I also put it on my toes.
The December SquareHue box is amazing. I can’t praise this company enough I love every single box I have bought. This is my 12th month and I don’t intend on stopping my subscription any time soon. I just love the element of surprise every month.

And finally to add some sparkle on the candy cane nails I applied my out the door hologram silver top coat. This just sets off the whole look. I am really liking this candy mani.
What do you think…stamps or tape. I will post a link of my past taped candy canes:

2011 Candy Cane Nails
Boy have I come a long way…guess clean up was optional in 2011, lol!!!

I vote stamps with a little stamping practice my candy canes should be closer to perfect next year!!

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Nail Diary #173

Monday May 27, 2013
So yesterday I had some extra time… I decided to watch Netflix instant and attempt to do a water marble mani. Well the movie was good but the water marble not so much.
I got 3 nails into it and gave up. I was so annoyed by the whole thing. I’m not sure what the problem was…water temp or maybe humidity in the air but the polish just wouldn’t pool out.
I had Sally Hansen insta-dri Petal Pusher on as a base. I choose this polish as a base because it is a nice nude-pink quick dry polish; a great canvas for my marble. After I gave up on my marble I was so over it that I just repainted the three botched nails and left them plain until today.
Today I decided to attempt a chevron tip … I choose a holo polish. China Glaze Galactic Gray. I did use Orly chevron guides, I normally would try freehand but I just didn’t want to chance messing up yet again.
I really like the holo with the petal pusher the chevron tip really pops with the neutral base. My tips aren’t perfect but not too bad for first attempt.

Ps ignore my cuticles…they are a hot mess. I have been trying all sorts of cuticle products but they still are horrid. If you have any suggestions I am all ears.

Nail Diary #124

Sigh my Candy Cane nails!!
I spent way too much time on today’s mani!
Plus I am not super happy with the results…I stink at tape manis. I struggle using the tape. It’s like and elephant trying to juggle.
But since I spent my whole afternoon on these candy cane nails I am posting them, darn it.
I guess you have to take the bad and the good…and these IMO are not so great.

So first I painted all my nails with Sinful Colors Snow me White for a good solid white base.
Then I did 2 coats of Salon Perfect Snow Flurry. This gave me a shimmery snow white finish. I love this white, it’s so pretty. Reminds me of that glittery first snow of the season ❤.
I let these dry really good before I applied my tape for the candy cane stripes.
Once I was completely dry… I used regular scotch tape and really skinny nail art tape for my stripes then applied Color Club Berry and Bright. I ❤ this red, it has a metallic foil finish …I think it is even scented.
Note…try removing the tape while the polish is still wet. UGhhhhh it is such a challenge to do this on your own. I def. need to practice using tape.

BTW I must say this was my first time using Color Club polish… I am impressed with it! Can’t wait to try this polish again under not so stressful conditions, lol!! Coverage and finish is fab and it dries very fast! I hope Color Club starts showing up regularly at my local Sally’s.

Ps please excuse my cuticles…clean up was also a challenge 😉
