Nail Diary #406

September 29, 2016

I don’t often get that excited about my nail art.  But this turned out so perfect; I am in love!  I bet you FALL in love also ❤

Started with a retro OPI polish called DS GLOW, Glow is a golden brown almost copper foil like polish.  It is a perfect back drop for some fall stamping.

Last week I splurged an ordered a couple Pueen stamping plates so I was super excited to try one out.  Using Pueen Nature Lover plate 01 I stamped on some autumn leaves using Konad black stamping polish.  This alone was really pretty but a while back I picked up some Wet n Wild jelly (Candy gloss nail tint) polish from Walgreens so I though why not give the lead light technique a try, jellies are perfect for this type of manicure.  Wet n Wild jellies are Floral Support the red and One Grape or Another is the purple.  I didn’t have a green Wet n Wild jelly so I used my Zoya Frida for a teal green leaf.  I just used my dotting tool and filled in the leaves with the jelly polish.  The jelly polish is a tint so it dries perfect within the lines of the stamp.

Ooooh em geeeeeee forgive me but I LOVE how these turned out.

I did not get a proper pic in the sun; but it is just absolutely gorge in the sunlight.  Glow shimmers under the jellies ❤

Nail Diary #326

February 27, 2015

TGIF!  I have today off from work, YAY!  It’s actually a holiday at my company called “Cabin Fever Friday”.  WoW I really do have cabin fever, it is currently -4 here in Iowa ummmm burr.  Needless to say I am stuck here in my house watching movies all day and playing with nail polish; it could be worse so I will stop complaining.

Fun fact about me, we have a koi pond in our backyard.  I love koi fish they are so beautiful.  So when I saw Messy Mansion nail stamping plate MM29 I knew I had to have it.  It took me quite awhile to obtain it.  It was sold out for the longest time.  But alas I finally got my claws on it.

I had no idea when I was going to play with my koi stamps but I knew the perfect combo would come to me.  Sunday night I painted my nails using Zoya Rayne from the Spring 2015 Delight collection.  Rayne is a gorgeous shade of blue with a teal shimmer finish, oh my how I love Rayne.  Rayne is perfect on its own but as I wore it all day Monday I knew Rayne needed that koi stamp.  So I rushed right home from work and stamped on the koi image from MM29 using my Konad special black polish.  My nails are pretty small so I had to improvise, adding parts of the fish to different nails.  Then using Julep Myriam I filled in the scales of the koi.  I love how the orange red jelly polish pops over Rayne.

What do you think?  This manicure has me dreaming of having a glass of vino on my deck overlooking my koi pond.  Please winter GO AWAY!!

Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #260

April 14, 2014
April showers bring May flowers. Or should I say snow showers in Iowa. Lucky for us it didn’t stick. All these snow showers can really bring a girl down but good thing I have a touch of spring on my fingertips today!!
Saturday I was cruising around You Tube and came across an intriguing tutorial made by Messy Mansion called the leadlight technique, I knew right away I just had to try it. I had no idea what leadlight was until I saw this video, your nails literally look like stain glass.
First start with light undies. I picked Sally Hansen insta-dri Petal Pusher. This is a perfect neutral base color that dries quickly.
Then using my Konad black polish I stamped on the bottom middle image from Pueen plate 49.
Once that dried I added a clear topcoat. Then I started adding my jellies.
Jelly polish is the key to this style. I picked the following four pretty spring jelly polishes.
Light pink with light sparkle Nicole You’re an angel
Julep dark pink magenta also with glitter Monica
Claire’s (ColorClub) Starstruck shimmery orange Little Dipper
And last but not least a shimmery summer yellow Loreal tweet me
I just took my smallest detail paint brush and filled in the stamp with the colors.
This is not a true flower image stamp but once I added the jellies it looks very flowery.
I think for my first try this turned out pretty cute. I can’t wait to try it with another stamp image in the future.
