Nail Diary #406

September 29, 2016

I don’t often get that excited about my nail art.  But this turned out so perfect; I am in love!  I bet you FALL in love also ❤

Started with a retro OPI polish called DS GLOW, Glow is a golden brown almost copper foil like polish.  It is a perfect back drop for some fall stamping.

Last week I splurged an ordered a couple Pueen stamping plates so I was super excited to try one out.  Using Pueen Nature Lover plate 01 I stamped on some autumn leaves using Konad black stamping polish.  This alone was really pretty but a while back I picked up some Wet n Wild jelly (Candy gloss nail tint) polish from Walgreens so I though why not give the lead light technique a try, jellies are perfect for this type of manicure.  Wet n Wild jellies are Floral Support the red and One Grape or Another is the purple.  I didn’t have a green Wet n Wild jelly so I used my Zoya Frida for a teal green leaf.  I just used my dotting tool and filled in the leaves with the jelly polish.  The jelly polish is a tint so it dries perfect within the lines of the stamp.

Ooooh em geeeeeee forgive me but I LOVE how these turned out.

I did not get a proper pic in the sun; but it is just absolutely gorge in the sunlight.  Glow shimmers under the jellies ❤

November 3, 2015

Hello November goodbye October.  I totally missed the end of October mani’s.  I missed about three Halloween festive nail looks.  I think in the next week or so I will do a throw back to October entry, lol.

Tonight I have a beautiful fall like water marble to share with you.  I really love this color combo.

My underwear color is China Glaze Innocence a pale nude pink perfect for a blank canvas.

Colors in my marble are:

OPI NYPD Beat a deep beat red and Burning Love a shimmering gold orange.

OPI Nicole colors Here we Kome A-Karoling a deep plum purple, Keeping up with Santa a foil like red and Deck the Dolls a metallic teal.

The effect is oh la la love this!!  My favorite colors are Burning Love and Deck the Dolls!!

an OPI water marble an OPI water marble

Enjoy.  And if you haven’t tried water marbling I suggest you do try it, it is so fun to create new looks with different random colors.  It takes some practice and patience but once you master it you will be so happy!

Happy polishing!

Hello fellow polish lovers!!

As mentioned in my last diary post this time I am sharing another Pixie Dust jelly manicure only this time it’s magical.

For this Pixie dust jelly mani I used a Zoya MAGICAL Pixie Dust called Bar.  As stated on the Zoya website Bar by Zoya can be best described as a glittery nude topaz in the best-selling ultra textured, matte, holographic Magical Pixie formula.  OMG like the ultra Pixe Dust Arianna I used in my last post Bar is absolutely gorgeous on its own but again I thought…what if I added a top coat; wait no scratch that what if I added a jelly polish as a top coat?  So I added Zoya Katherine…and um yep I totally still love this look.  Katherine is described by Zoya as a sheer, dark, red-toned aubergine, oxblood jelly polish which looks amazing over Bar.  I could not be happier with how this pixie dust jelly mani turned out.  I love the way the pixie dust glitters under the jelly polish on top, it is super MAGICAL.  I love this technique a lot.

Next time I will be trying another jelly polish over a super glitter polish hope you stop by again to check it out.

Happy polishing!

April 22, 2015

Hey fellow nail polish lovers.  I hope this week finds you all well.  I seriously can’t believe how quickly April is going by; it will be summertime before we know it.

The mani I have to share with you tonight is inspired by a ten year old ornamental plum tree in my backyard.  It actually is the first tree we planted in our yard way back when.  My favorite thing about this tree is the spring plum blossoms.  Although they only last a week or two at the most, while they are blooming they sure make me happy.  And when the blossoms fall it is like it snows flower petals <3.

On to the nails.  My base color is a Zoya satin called Ana, Ana is a simple light almond color.  This represents the petals without being a too in your face white or pink. Then using Zoya Anja a deep wine color polish I stamped on a blossom image from Pueen stamping plate 93.  Anja represents the center of the plum blossoms.  Tiny note: I decided to add a top coat to seal the stamping so you won’t see Ana as a satin in these pictures.

I really love how this spring manicure turned out.  I like the idea of having a flower or plant inspire my manicures for awhile;  I think my next inspiration will be my gorgeous lilac bushes.  Stayed turned to see how that translates on to my nails.

Happy polishing!

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

These next nails are in honor of the new season of The Walking Dead starting a few days ago, I love that show.  I have been watching since the first season.  I can’t wait to see where this next season takes Rick and the gang.  Unfortunately I have not had a chance to watch Sunday’s episode yet, thanks to a DVR mishap but I am hoping to catch it on Friday.

So for these Zombified nails I used six Bundle Monster plates.

First I started with nude undies.  I used a Sally Hansen Insta-Dry nude called Sand Storm.  Sand Storm made for a good base color.  Bear with me all my nails have a different design, so I will just list them by finger below.

Thumbs:  Are a bloody crime scene.  Used two different reds China Glaze Naughty and Nice (a darker shade to look like dried blood) and Orly Grave Mistake (fresh blood color).  Plates used BM-416 for the splatters and caution tape stamped with Konad black from BM-412.

Index and middle fingers were both done using three colors and a makeup sponge.  I wanted a multi color grungy base.  Colors used closet to cuticle Square Hue Rodeo Drive, middle color Zoya dark grey Claudine and on tips China Glaze Agro an army green.  Stamping on my index fingers are a spooky web from BM-013 using Konad White layered with creepy zombie hands in black from BM-H08 on top of web.  Stamping on my middle finger is a red blood drip from BM-405 using Orly Grave Mistake and layered on top was a RIP grave stone with a couple zombie hands also from plate BM-H08.

Ring finger is solid China Glaze Agro then stamped with more zombie hands from BM-H08.

Pinky finger is the nude Sand Storm base with a blood splat image from BM-H06 using Orly Grave Mistake.

Once I got these all stamped, I topped them off with my matte top coat for more of a creep factor.

I am pretty happy with how these turned out.  I love how each nail is different.

Nail Diary #300

October 6, 2014

Happy Monday all!  I am in awe, I can’t believe this is my 300th nail entry.  I started my blog back in Nov of 2011.  That is a whole lot of nail pictures almost three years worth.  I remember when I started I was so astonished when I got just one follower or like.  I am amazed that I continue to document all my manicures, but I am driven by a passion and love for nail polish.  I don’t get paid or get free polish from this blog; I do it for fun and to share my love for nail polish.  It is funny I was looking back to my first few diary entries and was shocked on how much my posts have changed since then.  In the beginning I never used a clean up brush, I took my pics with my iPod mostly with a flash in hallways or even my bathroom with terrible lighting.  In my #3 post on 11/9/11 I talked about having 180 bottles of nail polish, wow that was a lot to me back then.  Now I am pushing 1000!!  I plan to continue to put my nails out there until it no longer is fun to do so.

On to the nails:

Last Friday and Saturday was epic.  I got three boxes delivered to me all containing nail polish.  YAY happy dance!!!   I got my Zoya order, my SquareHue subscription box and my Julep box.  Needless to say I was in nail polish heaven.

For this dark vampy manicure I used my new SquareHue flat black Via Montenapoleone.  Via Montenapoleone is from the 10.14 Milan passport collection.  I put this black on all my nails but my ring finger.  I only did two coats for full flawless coverage and no top coat bc I wanted the black to remain flat.  I am in love with this flat black polish, bravo SquareHue.  For my ring accent nail I used my brand new Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust Arianna.  Arianna is a red wine ultra textured matte glitter polish packed with mega hex particles.  Ohhhhhh I die.  It is so unique and beautiful.  I loved it so much on my ring finger so I added it to all my tips with a sponge eye makeup applicator.  The result is amazing.  Super dark and vampy just perfect for this time of year.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Nail Diary #221

TGiAF!!!
Had the brilliant idea of creating fall nails on my way home from work today. The leaves in Iowa are finally turning and dropping. The colors on my drive home are just gorgeous and awe inspiring.
I had all these fall colors in mind but I settled on my SquareHue #0813 Endless Summer Collection.
This trio was just begging to be a sponge gradient.
Omg this color combo doesn’t disappoint; I’m in love with this mani so much so that I couldn’t add my originally planned leaf stamps and glitter accent nails.
I must enjoy these beauties as is for a day or two.
So the SquareHue Endless summer trio consists of:
Surf Gypsy a burgundy polish with holo micro glitters, I die for this color. It’s fantistical.
Scorched summer a burnt orange color
Bikini beach a sunny yellow.
To achieve this look I started with a gold base. Using Sally Hansen Golden-1. Always start with a good base when sponging on colors.
When that was completely dry I sponged on my Endless Summer trio.
The results are “fall”tastic. Love love love.

Side note I am having time change issues…I miss my summer sun for nail photo shoots.
Bare with me…my light box is kinda lame so my pictures are kind of suffering. Oh wells, you get the idea right.

Now go out and do a fall mani….the colors are “fall”tastic, hehe.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤
