Nail Diary #204

Tuesday September 3, 2013
After a long holiday weekend I found myself stuck at home today with sick child. In between her coughs and catering to her every need I found some time to tell you about a color from my 09.13 SquareHue nail mail. I got The Serengeti Collection in the mail on Friday. My favorite Hue from the collection is called Savanna Sundowner it’s an olive green with a gold shimmer, a perfect fall color. It’s really quite lovely. I typically don’t love this shade of green but this color has won me over. I expected it to be streaky and hard to work with but was pleasantly surprised it has a great formula something I have to come to expect from SquareHue. If you don’t already subscribe I really recommend this brand. I love love love the polish but I also love the element of surprise and themed collections, so fun!!

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Hey polish lovers.
I had a lot to work with tonight…
I got my new 0613 SquareHue “SoBe” collection it in the mail yesterday. Plus I just had to play with my new Pueen 2013 Love stamping plates.
So I started with my new Hue polish Ocean Drive. A lovely light teal Creme polish. Love love love this color. It makes me want to fly to Florida and get all “Miami”!! Ok i just dated myself but anyhoo…this color is awesome!! I am loving my SoBe collection can’t wait to play with the other two shades!!
On to my new pueen 2013 love stamping plates. I picked Pueen46 plate. The top middle image to be exact. It’s a quarter moon and circle design, too much fun. The stamping polish I used is Salon Perfect neon Flamingo Flare. This polish is great for stamping it went on like a dream. I am loving this color combo….it’s so South Beach!! Too bad I am stuck in Iowa. Oh wells!! Have a great rest of the week.

Try it Tuesday
I have a moody mani!!

Playing with China Glaze It’s a TRAP-Eze! tonight. Got this color a while back and I have been waiting for the perfect moment to try it out. It’s a white jelly polish with multi color and multi size glitters! ❤Love❤Love❤Love it!! I didn’t even have to use a base color…just applied three coats and got pretty good even coverage. I think I love it because the glitter looks 3D in the milky white polish.

On my ring, index and thumb I used Icing polish from Claire’s Mood Swing.
It’s blue color that is supposed to change to purple. Blue is relaxed and purple is hyper. I guess tonight I am feeling relaxed because my polish is blue. I am patiently waiting for it to change. Maybe I will get hyper tomorrow ;). Mood Swing does dry matte but I love it with my Seche Vite fast dry top coat.
With the clear coat Mood Swing has a beautiful shimmery finish.

Love or hate mood polish??? It’s like so high school… But IDC I think it’s fun. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

It’s Try it Tuesday!!
Tonight’s nail diary entry showcases China Glaze Altered Reality.
This is from the Tranzitions line.
Basically when you apply clear coat to the color it transitions to a different color.
I picked up three of these at Sally’s last week only because they were red tagged and I couldn’t resist the sale. I think I got the three colors in the whole line that don’t have a dramatic transition…hence the red tag. Oh wells, no biggie.
It’s no secret that my favorite color is teal. So Altered Reality is winner no matter how much the color changes.
This is a metallic teal color and when the clear coat is applied it gets even darker. Warning: The formula is a bit streaky. And it takes longer than expected to dry.
For the transition I decided to play with clear and matte top coats.
First did one coat of Altered Reality then a clear coat of Seche Vite over whole nail just to see what I was working with…the whole color change was so subtle I was worried if playing with various top coats was worth it. But in the end my curiosity got the best of me. So I applied another coat of Altered Reality. Once that dried completely I applied a clear coat of Seche Vite fast dry on the diagonal over half the nail (lines are free hand so they aren’t very straight). Then on the very tip on the diagonal I applied Essie matte top coat.
I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’s very subtle but definitely cool and fun. It will be interesting to see if anyone notices the transition.

These are my nails from last night. Finally doing a Try it Tuesday!! IKR it’s been forever.
This is a complex Julep polish. I believe it’s from my December Maven box. I remember seeing this polish and thinking I JuST had to have it!!
This a duo-chrome polish is called Julia.
It’s purple no wait it’s metallic gold. Either way it’s gorgeous. Julia is a metallic glittery polish. She changes color depending on angle.
I can’t help but to stare at my nails with this polish on…
Happy Hump Day!! Hooray we are half way to the weekend!! 🙂
Stay polished.

I haven’t done Try it Tuesday in awhile. I have a ton of untried polishes so I should make this a habit.
Today I picked Sinful Colors Winterberry. This a fabulous winter color. A plum purple with just enough of a silver shimmer to make it interesting.
I really love this color it is just perfect for this time of year. Looks great on my tan-less Iowa skin.

I am thinking I may need to add a stamp but maybe tomorrow….I am picturing some fabulous stamp in silver.

Thanks for reading.
