Nail Diary #161

It’s Try it Tuesday!!
Tonight’s nail diary entry showcases China Glaze Altered Reality.
This is from the Tranzitions line.
Basically when you apply clear coat to the color it transitions to a different color.
I picked up three of these at Sally’s last week only because they were red tagged and I couldn’t resist the sale. I think I got the three colors in the whole line that don’t have a dramatic transition…hence the red tag. Oh wells, no biggie.
It’s no secret that my favorite color is teal. So Altered Reality is winner no matter how much the color changes.
This is a metallic teal color and when the clear coat is applied it gets even darker. Warning: The formula is a bit streaky. And it takes longer than expected to dry.
For the transition I decided to play with clear and matte top coats.
First did one coat of Altered Reality then a clear coat of Seche Vite over whole nail just to see what I was working with…the whole color change was so subtle I was worried if playing with various top coats was worth it. But in the end my curiosity got the best of me. So I applied another coat of Altered Reality. Once that dried completely I applied a clear coat of Seche Vite fast dry on the diagonal over half the nail (lines are free hand so they aren’t very straight). Then on the very tip on the diagonal I applied Essie matte top coat.
I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’s very subtle but definitely cool and fun. It will be interesting to see if anyone notices the transition.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Nail Diary #113

Tuesday November 6, 2012
Just a quick NOTD post. After all those Halloween manis last month I went for quick and simple last night.
Trying one of my new finger paints…from the 2012 fall of surprises line. Be-leaf it or not!. Picked up this pretty at Sally’s a few months ago. I wanted to save it for November for some reason.
This a pretty frosty sage metallic color. I only did 2 coats. For fun I added my Essie matte top coat. The matte really tones down the frosty hue, yay. Seemed to even out the brush strokes better!
For some reason when I look at my nails I think “jewel tone”. Truly a lovely fall color.
I do love them. Got a few compliments at work today. 🙂
Might need to jazz them up with a stamp tomorrow night…have to see how they wear tomorrow at work.

Feeling kinda corny tonight!
I have candy nails, candy corn that is…
I love candy corn. I hated it as a child but now I love it. I have tried really hard not to spoil my clean eating with candy, but I can’t lie I have snuck a piece here and there this month 🙂
So most tutorials on candy corn nails I see tape used. I am no good at using tape, I have no patience for it. Plus I kind of like the uneven lines…looks more realistic.
So I started with a yellow nail, Finger paints Art nouv-yellow. Needed 2 coats.
When that was good and dry I did my orange, Sinful Colors Courtney Orange. Covered about 3/4 of the nail. BTW I love this orange!
Then to finish my candy nails I did a white tip Sally Hansen White on. Make sure you wait until the white is completely dry to apply last top coat; you may notice my lack of patience in my pics as my white streaked a little bit, drat!!
Last year when I did these I had a shiny top coat. This time I used my Essie matte to finish. That really sets off the candy look.
They almost look good enough to eat.

Try it Tuesday
Ok tonight I am trying Sinful Colors Nirvana. Got this at Walgreens; actually bought it twice… I bought it the second time because the name tag said it was matte …. Huh my first bottle did not say that, so I was curious.
Ok well here is my Nirvana matte… Humph that sure doesn’t look matte to me…I got duped. 😦

So of course I had to use my Essie matte to get the job done right!!
My daughter seen me using this color and she said “ewwwww mom who wants to wear brown nail polish?” I dunno I kind of like it. But just to glam these nails up I added Sally Hansen Gem Crush Big Money on my ring finger.
I might be a little off but I like this look. I love the battle between matte/grunge and glitter!!

Good thing I only paid 1-2$$ for the Nirvana twice otherwise I might be more upset about the tag error. Maybe now I can gift my duplicate bottle, or not?!?!

Have a great week, thanks for stopping by 🙂

Hello
So tonight I decided to try my new julep polishes. BTW I love these bottles, I would almost just get them to display…I know I have polish addiction issues, lol.
I got these with my IT girl July Julep box.
This was my first IT girl box…well after my intro box.
I love love teal and glitter so I was super happy with the color of this months polishes.
This will be my first time using this polish as well.
Started with my Julep Daphne. Ohhhh ahhhhh love this color. I had to do 3 coats and I was shocked how much polish it used… At this rate I will empty the bottle real fast.
Then I used my Essie matte about you to be dramatic….ohhhhh I love matte nails. And this color matte is gorg.
To add a little something something I used Julep Mila on just the tips. This is a micro multi glitter. Love it!!!

Does u get Julep monthly?? I am not sure how many bottles I will actually get bc they’re so small for the price. I will decide based on wear :). But I must say getting polish in the mail is super fun and they have the cutest packaging!!

Last nights manicure China Glaze “VIII” and sinful color “nail junkie” on the tips was boring me already.

Threw on a coat of Essie Shine of the Times and bam nails went from DraB to FaB!! It only took a few minutes with my Seche Vite fast dry top coat!
Now I m loving my nails again!!!
MY world is right once again 🙂
