Nail Diary #367

November 3, 2015

Hello November goodbye October.  I totally missed the end of October mani’s.  I missed about three Halloween festive nail looks.  I think in the next week or so I will do a throw back to October entry, lol.

Tonight I have a beautiful fall like water marble to share with you.  I really love this color combo.

My underwear color is China Glaze Innocence a pale nude pink perfect for a blank canvas.

Colors in my marble are:

OPI NYPD Beat a deep beat red and Burning Love a shimmering gold orange.

OPI Nicole colors Here we Kome A-Karoling a deep plum purple, Keeping up with Santa a foil like red and Deck the Dolls a metallic teal.

The effect is oh la la love this!!  My favorite colors are Burning Love and Deck the Dolls!!

an OPI water marble an OPI water marble

Enjoy.  And if you haven’t tried water marbling I suggest you do try it, it is so fun to create new looks with different random colors.  It takes some practice and patience but once you master it you will be so happy!

Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #260

April 14, 2014
April showers bring May flowers. Or should I say snow showers in Iowa. Lucky for us it didn’t stick. All these snow showers can really bring a girl down but good thing I have a touch of spring on my fingertips today!!
Saturday I was cruising around You Tube and came across an intriguing tutorial made by Messy Mansion called the leadlight technique, I knew right away I just had to try it. I had no idea what leadlight was until I saw this video, your nails literally look like stain glass.
First start with light undies. I picked Sally Hansen insta-dri Petal Pusher. This is a perfect neutral base color that dries quickly.
Then using my Konad black polish I stamped on the bottom middle image from Pueen plate 49.
Once that dried I added a clear topcoat. Then I started adding my jellies.
Jelly polish is the key to this style. I picked the following four pretty spring jelly polishes.
Light pink with light sparkle Nicole You’re an angel
Julep dark pink magenta also with glitter Monica
Claire’s (ColorClub) Starstruck shimmery orange Little Dipper
And last but not least a shimmery summer yellow Loreal tweet me
I just took my smallest detail paint brush and filled in the stamp with the colors.
This is not a true flower image stamp but once I added the jellies it looks very flowery.
I think for my first try this turned out pretty cute. I can’t wait to try it with another stamp image in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Oh and here is a link to Messy Mansion’s LeadLight Technique tutorial.

Nail Diary #239

Monday January 27, 2014
Happy Monday. Hope this day finds you warm. It’s a freezing winter tundra here in Iowa. I don’t know about you but I cannot wait to come out of hibernation this spring. Bring on the end of winter, pretty please!! Unfortunately it won’t come soon enough.
I have some lovely nails to show you tonight ❤️❤️
Started with China Glaze Fifth Avenue a pretty mauve color on all my nails but my index finger. Then over Fifth Avenue I added a Maybelline Color Show street art glitter called Pink Splatter. Pink Splatter is multi size/shape light pink and black glitter, love this fun glitter. I hope to run across some more street art glitters in the near future; my Walmart only had two left.
For some more pink fun I added OPI Nicole You’re an Angel over Pink Splatter. You’re an Angel is a sheer pink/gold shimmer. Works great for jelly sandwiches or as a shimmer topper.

On my index finger I used China Glaze texture black polish Bump in the night as jet black textured base. To spice up Bump in the night I added an OPI liquid sand polish called Stay the night. The Stay the night is a matte black liquid sand with bright pink glitter this really glamifies Bump in the Night .
I really do love how these colors all came together. I never just do my index finger as an accent nail, but I kinda like it.
I just had to add to add a stamp to it. Using my Bundle Monster 426 plate, I stamped on L O V E. On my thumbs I stamped on random lovey sayings from BM 425. To stamp on my images I used Square Hue cream white Westminster.

Ohhh and note to self when stamping on letters be careful when doing your opposite hand. When stamping my right hand I did the letters in the same order…therefore when I look at the it reads E V O L instead of L O V E … Oh my, live and learn and laugh.
Otherwise I think these turned out super fun. I sure had fun creating them and really that is all that matters, oh and plus I got try try out a lot of untried polishes!

Nail Diary #237

Saturday January 18, 2014
Good Morning. Happy Saturday! It’s my birthday eve!! Happy almost birthday to me, hehe.
I did my nails a few days ago and I am just now getting to share them with you, slacker.
I was going to type this up last night but I got distracted by pizza and neflix movie night!!
So this time I incorporated my favorite color teal with some red and white.
This is a very unconventional color combo but I think they turned out pretty cute!

First I started with my base color OPI Nicole polish Deck the dolls . Deck the dolls is from the 2012 Kardashian Holiday Collection, I got it last January on sale from Ulta and I am just now getting to trying it out!! It really is a beautiful teal, almost shimmery. I will definitely be playing with this color more.
So on my ring and index fingers I added a fun Hard Candy glitter called Pop Rocker. Pop Rocker is a super rad multi size red, white and black glitter (did I really just date myself and type RAD). There are some little glitters, hex glitters and bar glitters; it is def popping!! Looks fab over the teal.
On my other three fingers I wanted to do some lovely Pueen stamping.
First off I really wanted stamp some heart images in red, for some reason I had it in my head that the red would look super cool with the teal. So I used China Glaze Adventure Red-y to stamp on some various heart images from Pueen plates 41 and 43. It looked OK; the red just kind of got lost over the teal. Sometimes you just have to improvise 🙂 So I stamped on the same image again over the red in white, Wet n Wild A blank Canvas.
There that’s better. The images really pop now plus the red under really pulls the whole look together. It looks kind of busy but hey I need some excitement in my life 😉

Do you guys ever double stamp? I kinda of like the technique I think I should do it more often.
Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Nail Diary #232

Saturday December 28, 2013
Hello polish lovers!! Happy Holidays. Hoping your days have been merry and bright.
I have a quick post as I rush off the my last Christmas family gathering.
Today’s polish is part of last years Kardashian Holiday Collection by nicole OPI.
I did a 3:2 mani:
On my pinky, index and thumbs I polished them with a deep red called Keeping Up with Santa , trust me this red is amazing. Perfect for those holiday gatherings.
To add some glam on my ring and middle fingers I used All is Glam, All is Bright. This is a super fine glitter polish packed full with red, blue and silver glitter. Absolutely beautiful in the winters sun.
I was going to put a stamp on it but unfortunately I have ran out of time to play. I promise once the holiday gatherings are over I will have more manis to share with you guys. In fact my daughter asked Santa to bring her mommy some polish so I got some new Zoya polishes to share with you guys…I am in love with the Zoya PixieDust polishes.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Just for fun “Mani Cave” pictures

Hey polish lovers.
Today while I was hibernating at home watching Real Housewives in my mani cave mindlessly playing candy crush the sun came out, oh the glorious sun!!! It inspired me to take some pics of my cave in other words “my happy place”.
I thought hmmm why not share the pictures with you guys?!? Just a glimpse into my work space. I mean only people who read and or follow nail blogs would really get my “mani cave” or possibly understand my obsession with nail polish.
Maybe you will appreciate the fact that I have the little bottles of fun displayed like art on my walls; truthfully having them displayed out in the open really leads to manicure inspirations.

So grab a coffee or a cocktail and sit back and enjoy some photos of my “happy place”, the place where the manis are created.

Hope you enjoy!

Nail Diary #144

Monday February 18, 2013
I have a jelly sandwich, and you will be green with envy when you see it…wink wink.
So tonight I tried a FREE Orly polish Sally’s Beauty Supply gave me last week when I spent at least $3.50. It was so hard to choose just one but I settled on Green with Envy. I was surprised that this green tealy cream was very jelly like.
I had my OPI Nicole A gold winters night from the 2012 Kardashian holiday collection right next to GWE on my shelf and they looked like they were made for each other.
I didn’t plan on a jelly sandwich it just happened….it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.
So started with two coats of Green with Envy. Then I added A gold winters night on my ring finger. This is a gold glitter polish which also has holo bar glitters which really plays on the green polish. I loved it so much on my ring finger that I just kept adding it to each digit. Then it hit me…a Jelly sandwich would be cool. So I added another coat of GWE on my pinky, middle and thumb.
You can still see the Nicole glitter under GWE but it is very subtle. I love it. Kind of wish I would have did this mani closer to St Patty’s day, it would have been perfect.
Hope you all stay warm…is it spring yet??? We are expecting more snow this week, yay :/
