Nail Diary #341

May 19, 2015

Two weeks since my last post, wow must be a record.  But don’t worry I have been painting my nails, a girl can’t run around with naked nails.  I just took a mini blogging break.  Every now and then I wonder to myself why I blog all my manicures, but my passion for nail polish rears it head and I have the need to share my outrageous passion for nail polish.  Not too mention it is fun for me to look back on all my past nail creations.

This one I did a few weeks ago, the week before mother’s day.  When I got my May 1940 Square Hue nail polish I knew I had to play with Sorcerer’s Hat right away.    Sorcerer’s Hat is a colbalt blue metallic shimmer.  It is so pretty.  I ended up with a 3:2 manicure meaning on three nails I had one design and the other two another.  I wanted so sparkle so I used Zoya Nori on my two middle nails.  Nori is not new to this blog I have played with this color before; this magical blue holo pixie dust is amazing and it looks great with  Sorcerer’s Hat.  For my three I matted Sorcerer’s Hat and added Nori to the tips.

Love these blues.  Hopefully I get my blogging mojo back soon. 🙂

Happy polishing!

December 13th, 2014

Happy Weekend!  I hope you are all having a great one.  I am super excited because I am nearly finished with all my Christmas shopping, yay!  Now starts the daunting task of wrapping them all.

I have a sweet festive manicure to show you tonight.  This time I wanted holiday nails but not too over the top so I decided to have just one festive accent nail.  On all my nails but one I used one of my 12.14 Square Hue colors.  This month is the last of the Square Hue passport collections and this month they took me to Rovaniemi.  Rovaniemi, huh maybe you are wondering where in the world is that?  Rovaniemi is the home town of Santa Claus, a village in Lapland Finland.  Absolutely perfect location for this month.  The color I picked to try first is a red micro glitter called Joulupukin Pajakyla.  Joulupukin Pajakyla is such a sexy red, I love the glam glow of the micro glitter.  For my ring finger I did a candy cane accent nail.  First I used my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri white and then added stripes with my straight nail vinyls and the red.  The accent was a little tricky, my colors wanted to bleed when I added my clear top coat.  Make sure you wait to until it is completely dry before you top coat it.

I really love how this turned out.  My nails scream holiday glam.

Once again Square Hue does not disappoint.  I can’t wait to see where Square Hue takes me in 2015.

Nail Diary #307

November 3, 2014

Wait what November already?  Where are these days going?

Ut Oh confession time, I missed blogging my last Halloween mani.  I got so caught up in horror movies and candy eating that I didn’t get to it in time.  Oh wells you can check it out on my instagram account if you aren’t sick of Halloween nails by now.  I must say my last one was one of my favs.

Now I am on to fall nails.  I got my SquareHue November Passport Collection the other day.  This time SquareHue is whisking me off to Prague, gahhhh I wish.  This collection is to die, I love all three of the colors.  So you can imagine how hard it was for me to pick one of the three to do a simple manicure.  I ended up going with na prikope, which is a high gloss sage green creme.  I did these Saturday night and it was quite comical because I told Mr Amie I was doing simple.  I mean after all those Halloween nails I wanted one color simple nails.  I picked that perfect fall hue na prikope, BUT I just could not stop there, haha.  So, I decided to add some simple stamping.  First using Mash Nail Art black polish I added some images from Pueen plate 59.  Again I couldn’t stop there either so I added more images in Konad white from Pueen plate 55.  ( Note be careful when handling these stamping plates, I sliced the tip of my index finger right open; it was very painful not to mention stamping and blood don’t mix.  I was having Halloween nail flashbacks, lol)  Once I got my not so simple double stamping completed I added my new Zoya Matte Velvet top coat.  That top coat and I are going to have a long love affair.  Hands down my favorite matte top coat EVER!!!

Mr Amie says “so lets see your simple nails.”  I of course show him and he was like ahhhhhhh those are your version of simple, lol.  I guess I might have to ease back into simple a little more slowly.

Have a great week!  Happy polishing!

Nail Diary #295

September 12, 2014

YAY happy weekend!!  We have had a busy weekend so far.  My 10 year daughter had an eye appointment today and she ended up needing glasses, pleased to say they make her look so smart 🙂 and she loves them!

Late last week Zoya had a Pixie Dust BOGO promo and naturally being the polish addict I am I had to partake.  How exciting to add eight precious pixie dusts to my collection for the price of four; score!!

So the past few days in Iowa have been dark, cold and rainy.  A lot of the times the color I pick for my nails reflects my mood, a feeling, a holiday or even the time of year.  So due to the dreary weather I gravitated to a grey.  I picked an amazing Sinful Colors matte grey polish called My Turn.  My Turn went on splendid.  Typically with a matte polish you have annoying streaks and/or uneven coverage.  Not this time, it went on like a dream and dried super quick.  To add just a little pizzaz I decided to have a ring accent nail using one of my NEW Zoya magical pixie dusts called Ginni.  Ginni really is oh so magical, it is a pastel baby soft pink jammed packed full of holo magical glitter bits.  Be warned this polish is very textured, and it dries matte no top coat needed.  Once I added my accent nail I felt happy but still a little unsatisfied so I decided huh why not add Ginni to the tips of my grey nails using my makeup sponge, thinking the matte grey with the matte glitter would look pretty cool.  I could not be more happy with the results, this combo is to die.   I am in love, all friday at work I could not stop staring at my nails.  Even though the sun was not out for a couple days my magical pixie dust glittered like no other, ahhhhh sigh.  It is the little things that makes this girl happy.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!! ❤❤

Nail Diary #149

Wednesday March 6, 2013
Oh how I ❤love❤ the beginning of each month. The time of the month I stalk my mail box. Getting nail polish in the mail brings me such joy. I have been a julep maven for sometime now and I still love my Julep “It Girl” box. But in Jan. I started a new monthly nail polish subscription called SquareHue, a company based in Florida. This monthly nail polish subscription is unique because each month the colors are a surprise. The colors are not only a surprise but also a theme. I am a theme kind of girl. I just love all things themed and holiday. My march SqHue box is super fun and a St Patrick’s Day theme…it’s called the O’Hue Collection.
This collection includes a lovely metallic bronze color called Amber Lager , a neutral beige/sand color with a silver shimmer called Blond Ale.
Last but not least a gorge deep dark green called Patty’s Pint. This is the color I will be showcasing in this diary post.
Click here to see complete O’Hue Collection.
It was hard to pick which color to use first…but Patty’s Pint didn’t disappoint. I love this deep dark green. It’s a deep dark creme with a shimmery subtle finish. It looks beautiful against my pale Iowa skin.
I cannot wait to see Square Hue’s April’s Bloom collection!!!
Have you tried SquareHue polish? I highly recommend.
